Abstract

Michael Jackson Slang is a seasonal variety of language used by certain social groups in informal situations. Slang is usually used to communicate internally in a group or to foster self-identity. by creating new words disregarding scholastic standards and the linguistic principles of word formation. Therefore, the researcher conducted this research to analyze the Slang language contained in the song and explain the meaning and theme of the song. The subject of this research is the song We are the World. This research is a qualitative research. The objectives of this study are to: 1) identify the meaning of slang and phrases, 2) to see the meaning of the song lyrics, 3) to see the messages the song lyrics carry, 4) to understand the theme with the song lyrics. In order to describe the meaning of the song, the researcher did it manually and online. The results of this study indicate the meaning of songs that contain moral messages, which tell humans as one world. with a variety of races, ethnicities, religions, points of view, and other factors. this is the hope of achieving a better and peaceful world. therefore, we must be able to understand the meaning of the song.
