Abstract

Students' Ability to Analyze Anecdotal Texts for Class X Social Sciences SMA Handayani Pekanbaru for the 2019/2020 Academic Year Analyzing anecdotal texts is one of the literary skills that develops students' imagination and thinking abilities. Therefore, anecdotal texts need to be taught to students, the skills of analyzing anecdotal texts are learned in the 2013 curriculum of Indonesian language subjects in senior high schools, especially class X. Anecdotal texts are contained in Basic Competence 3.6 Analyzing anecdotal texts both in writing and orally. Problems in this study 1) How is the student's ability to analyze anecdotal texts for class X Social Sciences SMA Handayani Pekanbaru based on the structure? 2) How is the student's ability to analyze anecdotal texts for class X Social Sciences SMA Handayani Pekanbaru based on the rules. The aims of this study are 1) to describe, analyze, and interpret the students' ability to analyze anecdotal texts for class X Social Sciences SMA Handayani Pekanbaru based on the structure 2) describe, analyze, and interpret students' abilities to analyze anecdotal texts for class X IPS SMA Handayani Pekanbaru based on the rules. The population of this study were all students of class X IPS 1 SMA Handayani Pekanbaru, totaling 23 students. The scope of this research is included in the scope of the study of language skills in the aspect of reading. The theory used to analyze the research problem is Suherli. et al (2017). Justina (2016). Priyatni, and Titik Harsiati (2013). The method used in this study is a descriptive method with a quantitative approach. The technique used in this research is observation technique, and test technique. The data analysis technique is the percentage technique referred to by Sudijono (2018), the benchmark value proposed by Yustinah (2016). The results of this study as a whole that the ability of students to analyze anecdotal texts for class X Social Sciences SMA Handayani Pekanbaru for the academic year 2019/2020 can be concluded 1) the ability of students to analyze anecdotal texts for class X Social Sciences at SMA Handayani Pekanbaru in the academic year 2019/2020 based on the structure is in the pretty good category with value (62), 2) students' ability to analyze anecdotal texts for class X Social Sciences SMA Handayani Pekanbaru for the 2019/2020 school year based on the rules are in the very poor category with a value of (53), thus the hypothesis that reads students' ability to analyze anecdotal texts based on structure with categories pretty well rejected. Meanwhile, the hypothesis which reads that students' ability to analyze anecdotal texts based on rules is in the very poor category.
