Abstract
As social beings, humans need language to express or express something in the process of interacting in society, both formally and informally. However, the use of the language must be in accordance with the function, situation, and condition of the language itself, one of which occurs in the market because there is more than one language that is often used in society, ultimately making users of language mixing that is called code mixing. This study examines code mixing in the speech of sellers and buyers at the Cik Puan Market, Jalan Tuanku Tambusai, Sukajadi District, Pekanbaru City. Pekanbaru?, (2) What are the factors that cause code mixing in the speech of sellers and buyers at Cik Puan Market, Jalan Tuanku Tambusai, Sukajadi District, Pekanbaru City?. The theory used in this study is Abdul Chaer and Leonie Agustina (2010), Wijana Rohmadi (2013), and Nengah Suandi (2014). While the method used is content analysis with a qualitative research approach. Based on the results of this study, there were 76 data, namely (1) the type of code mixing inside contained 74 data while the type of code mixing outside contained 2 data (2) The limiting factor for the use of codes contained 15 data, the use of the more popular term contained 2 data, the speaker and the speaker's personal has 7 data, the talking partner has 13 data, the conversation mode has 10 data, the topic has 11 data, the function and purpose has 10 data, for just prestigious there are 8 data
