Abstract
This study aims to determine the differences in Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) between classes applying the Guided Inquiry learning model with classes that apply the Problem Based Learning model in biology learning class XI Pekanbaru 10 High School, in the coordination system material. The study was conducted in March 2019 until May 2019 and the instruments used were HOTS. Based on homogeneity test, two homogeneous classes were then selected by lottery to determine experiment class 1 and experimental class 2, then class XI MIPA 1 was chosen as experimental class 1 and class XI MIPA 2 as experimental class 2. From analysis of T-test data it was known that T (3.23) > T table (2.00) with level α = 0.05, then H 0 is rejected and H is accepted. Based on descriptive data analysis, the average post-test learning outcomes of experimental class 1 students = 85.49 and experimental class 2 = 89.20. Then it can be concluded, that there are differences in Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) between classes that apply Guided Inquiry and class learning models that apply Problem Based Learning learning models in class XI SMA Negeri 10 Pekanbaru Academic Year 2018/2019.
