Abstract
Each word will not occur reduplication without a morphological process. The morphological process includes giving affixes, reduplication or repetition of words, and combining words. So, reduplication or repetition of words is part of the morphological process. The problem of this research is how is the reduplication of Riau Malay language in the village of Medan City, Kelayang District, Indragiri Hulu Regency?. The purpose of this study is to describe, analyze, interpret, and conclude the reduplication of the Riau Malay language in Medan City Village, Kelayang District, Indragiri Hulu Regency. The theory used in this research is Chaer (2011: 286). This research method is descriptive method. Based on the research that the author did, it can be concluded that the reduplication of the Riau Malay language in the Medan City Village, Kelayang District, Indragiri Hulu Regency, consists of pure reduplications found as many as 75 reduplication data (1) all repetitions found are 62 data, for example: [dapuɣ-dapuɣ] ' kitchens', (2) 7 partial repetitions of [diubat-ubat] 'medicated-ubat', (3) Combining with the Affix [jual-jual] 'selling-jualan' process, (4) Phoneme Change 5 [bolaɁ- baliɁ] 'back and forth'
