Abstract
This research is motivated by the importance of figurative meaning and function which pantun maantau tando performed by the people of the village of Foldkain? carried out the day before the Kabul consent began. Pantun is something that is not can be separated from the maantau tando tradition, rhymes are used as tools communication between men and women. Problems in research This is what is the figurative meaning and function of the Pantun Maantau Tando Desa Fold in Kampar Kiri District, Kampar Regency?. Theory of Figurative Meaning Keraf (2010) and the function of Ganie (2015). The method used in the research this is a qualitative descriptive method using observation and Interview. Data processing is done by transliterating, classifying, analyze, interpret and draw conclusions. Research Conclusion There are 6 types of figures of speech, namely simile, allegory, personification, epithet, antonomasia, inuendo. The figurative meaning of antonomasia is 9 data. Figurative meaning simile as much as 2 data, the figurative meaning of allegory there are 2 data, figurative meaning personification as much as 5 data, the figurative meaning of the epithet as much as 22 data and meaning the figure of inuendo as much as 2 data. The total number of figurative meanings is 42 data, there are 5 functions, namely the aesthetic function of 17 data. 3 data recreational function, function diactive 16 data, morality function 12 data and religious function 1 data
