Abstract

Sustainable waste management is an urban waste management effort that uses the principle of waste utilization to be useful for meeting the needs of the community in terms of consumption and maintaining environmental sustainability through the process of garbage collection, effective waste management and recycling. Waste management in the city of Pekanbaru has not implemented a well-integrated concept from one stage to another. Muara Fajar TPA is a regional-level Trash Disposal Site located in Rumbai District, Muara Fajar Village, Pekanbaru City. The implementation of waste management in Muara Fajar TPA applies a sanitary landfill system, which is the Sanitary landfill is the most advanced landfill system at this time where garbage is systematically stored and disposed of. The purpose of this research is the implementation of management of the final processing site with an open dumping disposal system by the Waste Management and Final Section of the City of Pekanbaru and obstacles. The method used is descriptive and qualitative methods; informants in this study were the Section Head of Waste Management and Final Processing in Pekanbaru City, Superintendent, Foreman and Muara Fajar TPA Workers. Data collection techniques are interviews, observation and documentation. This study concludes that the analysis of waste management at Muara Fajar's final landfill (TPA) by the Pekanbaru City Environment and Sanitation Department's Waste Management Division in the category is quite accomplished. The implementation of the waste management system at the final disposal site has not been fully implemented properly due to the weak supervision of the staff, starting from the input of waste to the Muara Fajar TPA Pekanbaru City through the sanitary landfill process, namely the landfill process. This process has an impact on environmental pollution in the form of land and groundwater sources around the landfill area if not managed properly in the long run. x
