Abstract

Morphophonemics of Riau Malay Dialect of Peranap District of Peranap, Indragiri Hulu Regency. The morphophonemic process is the change of morphemic form in a morphological process, either affixation, reduplication, composition, or internal modification. Morphophonemic is a language structure that describes the phonological form of morphemes such as addition, subtraction, replacement of phonemes, or changes in stress that determine the shape of the morpheme. Morphophonemics are not only found in Indonesian, but also in regional languages. One of the regional languages is Malay. Regional language is a language commonly used in an area which is a symbol of regional pride and also as the identity of the region itself. There are several words that undergo morphophonemic processes such as the process of changing phonemes, the process of adding phonemes and the process of removing phonemes in Riau Malay dialect of Peranap, Peranap District, Indragiri Hulu Regency. The reason why the author chose the title Morphophonemic Riau Malay Dialect Peranap, Peranap District, Indragiri Hulu Regency, is because there are several morphophonemic processes. The purpose of this study was to describe and find out data and information regarding the process of changing, adding and removing phonemes in Riau Malay dialect Peranap, Peranap District, Indragiri Hulu Regency. The method used in this research is the ethnographic method. The instruments in this study were observations, interviews, and recordings. The data analysis technique in this study was translated from Riau Malay dialect of Peranap to Indonesian. The results of this study indicate that (1) The process of changing the phoneme /N/ on the morpheme {meN-} changes to /m/ if the basic form that follows begins with the phoneme /b/. As in the data {meN-}+ {bao?} → /mǝmbao?/, from the word baok, if the phoneme /N/ in the morpheme {meN-} gets an additional form, the basic word baok changes to baok. (2) The process of adding the phoneme /e/ to the morpheme {meN-} becomes {meƞe-} if the basic form that follows it begins with the phoneme /l/. Like {meN-}+ {luawan}→/ mǝŋeluawan/, which comes from the word luawan, if the phoneme /N/ in the morpheme {meN-} gets an additional form of the base word, luawan becomes mengeluawan. (3) The process of removing the phoneme /N/ on the morpheme {meN-} becomes {me-} if the basic form that follows it begins with the phoneme /l/. Like {meN-}+ {lantiŋ}→/melantiŋ/, from the word lanting, when the phoneme /N/ in the morpheme {meN-} meets the root word lanting it becomes melanting. This shows that there is a process of changing, adding, and removing morphophonemics in Riau Malay dialect Peranap, Peranap District, Indragiri Hulu Regency.
