Abstract

Use of Prepositions in Riau Pos Daily Editorial November 2020 Edition This research is motivated by the use of prepositions contained in the November 2020 edition of the Riau Pos daily editorial. The use of prepositions in the Riau Pos daily editorial November 2020 edition totals (427) prepositions. The problem in this study is how to use prepositions in the November 2020 edition of the Riau Pos daily editorial in the Riau Pos daily newspaper?. The purpose of this study was to determine the use of prepositions in the November 2020 edition of the Riau Pos daily newspaper in the Riau Pos daily newspaper. The theory that is used as a guide in this research is Abdul Chaer (2009). The research method uses the method of content analysis. This research approach uses qualitative research. The results of this study the authors found 13 uses of prepositions in the daily editorial of Riau Pos November 2020 edition totaling 427 prepositions, consisting of the use of prepositions of place of being amounted to 224, the use of prepositions of place of origin amounting to 51, the use of prepositions of place of destination amounting to 45, the use of prepositions of origin amounting to 0, the use of prepositions of time origin is 7, the use of certain time prepositions is 2, the use of prepositions of certain places is 1, the use of comparative prepositions is 2, the use of prepositions of actors is 3, the use of prepositions of tools is 46, the use of prepositions of things is 2, the use of restrictive prepositions totaling 30, the use of objective prepositions amounted to 14. Then the authors found (16) data on errors in the use of prepositions, namely errors in the use of prepositions of place, namely the preposition (at). Errors in the use of these prepositions are most commonly found in the errors in the use of the preposition where is the error in the use of the preposition (at). Of the 13 prepositions, the preposition that is more dominant and more widely used in the editorial of the November 2020 edition of the Riau Pos daily is the preposition where it is, namely the preposition (at). So it can be concluded that the use of prepositions in the Riau Pos daily editorial November 2020 edition is mostly correct and appropriate in its use in filling out the description function in a clause or sentence, but there are still some errors in the use of prepositions, namely the preposition where is (at) in the daily editorial.
