Abstract
This study aims to improve the learning outcomes of Biology students of class VIII4 SMP Negeri 13 Pekanbaru Academic Year 2018/2019 through the application of active learning strategies for Group to Group Exchange (GGE) types. This study is a Classroom Action Research (CAR). Data collection was carried out from October to December 2018. The research subjects were students of class VIII4 of SMPN 13 Pekanbaru totaling 42 students. Data were analyzed descriptively. Descriptive analysis of student learning outcomes was carried out in 2 cycles consisting of 10 meetings. Absorption cycle I experienced an increase of 12.81% from before PTK 69.74%, after PTK the first cycle became 82.555. In the second cycle students' PPK absorption increased by 5.05% from 82.55% to 87.60%. KI learning outcomes in the first cycle increased by 11.9% from 69.79% to 81.69%. In the second cycle the absorption of KI increased by 6.23% from 81.69% to 87.92%. Based on the results of the study concluded that teaching and learning activities with the application of active learning strategies type of Group to Group Exchange (GGE) can improve the biology learning outcomes of class VIII4 students of SMP 13 Pekanbaru Academic Year 2018/2019.
