Abstract

The Head of Teluk Kuantan II B Class Penitentiary Policy In Proposed Provision of Prisoners Assimilation During the Covid-19 Pandemic ABSTRACT ILHAM PRAYOGA NPM: 177510762 The spread of the covid-19 viruses set as a pandemic by the World Health Organization (WHO), and in its development continuously causes casualties and material losses that have affected the economic, social and community welfare aspects. In terms of fulfilling the rights of prisoners, the government issued Regulation Number 32 of 2020 concerning the conditions for providing assimilation for prisoners and protege in the context of preventing and overcoming Covid-19, which is a refinement of Government Regulation Number 10 of 2020 which was previously issued at the beginning of the Pandemic. The release of prisoners is carried out with consideration of the vulnerability of the spread of Covid-19 in correctional institutions/detention centers throughout Indonesia that have excess occupants. This study aims to explain how the policy of the head of Teluk Kuantan II B Class Penitentiary in proposing granting assimilation to prisoners during the Covid-19 pandemic. The method used in this study is a qualitative approach with a descriptive design whose data were obtained through a process of interviews and field observations. Referring to the penological study, this assimilation policy is an effort to prevent and rehabilitate prisoners before they are declared free from their prison term and closer. The community is slowly starting to feel the deterrence effect in the coaching efforts carried out by the correctional institutions, especially the Teluk Kuantan II B Class Penitentiary.
