Abstract
The writer analyzed this research that entitled “An Analysis Derivational Affixes In the textbook “The Bridge English Competence 3” Junior High School Grade IX” to collected Derivational Affixes words in the textbook itself. The aim of this research is analyzed wordforming of Derivational Affixes word into root, part of speech, prefixes and suffixes, meaning and categorizing the function marker of derivational affixes words in the textbook. The research is a qualitative research. The writer got the data source for this research is from Yudhistira English textbook entitled: “The Bridge English Competence 3 Junior High School Grade IX”. The writer found there are 31 derivational affixes words in the paragraph text on it. The writer read carefully and listed all the derivational affixes word, then analyzed the utterances based on the function of noun marker, adjective marker and adverb marker. The final result is the writer found derivational affixes words that found in the Yudhistira English textbook are both prefixes and suffixes such as prefixes (un-) and suffixes (-er, -ism, -tion, -or–(i)an, -ist, -ment, -ate,-th, -al, -ous, -ible, -ive, -t, -ist, -ment, -ate). Suffixes “-ly” is mostly used among others, it appears eight times. In the function of derivational affixes, the writer found noun marker (13), adjective marker (10) and adverb marker (8).
