Abstract

Some of problem in learning and teaching English included speaking are face by some students of the second grade at SMPN 3 Pekanbaruu. The students get difficult to share their ideas. They do not how to speak well with appropriate language such as pronunciation, grammar, vocabulary, fluency and comprehension in speaking. The researcher was conducted to find out the ability in speaking taught and without natural approach and also to find out whether or not significant effect. The subject of the researcher was the second year students at SMPN 3 Pekanbaru. The population of the research was all off the second grade students at SMPN 3 Pekanbaru, the total number of the population was 180 students.The sample of the research was consisted of two classes:VIII¹asan experimentalclass was taught byusingnatural approach andVIII²as acontrol class was taughtwithout natural approach. Each class consist of 34 students and there were 68 students.The technique used in taking random sampling. The research was experimental research. The instrument of the research was speaking test. The data were analyzed by used t-test formula. Theresearcher using SPSS version 23to analyze data. It could be seen that t calculated was higher than t in significant 5% (2.035<6.706). It means H o was rejected and H a table was accepted..Therefore, it can be concluded that there was significant effect of usingnatural approach towards students’speaking abilityat SMP3Pekanbaru.
