Abstract

Negotiations in social life are very important because the negotiation process is often encountered and done without realizing it. It can be found when we communicating with fellow human beings in trade negotiations to religious negotiations. Even children must be negotiate with their parents in choosing a college major, buying any items. As in each other’s identity of beliefs, it is impossible not to speaking first to each other's parents. Because the problem of self-identity such as belief or belief itself is the most important thing in life and it is a matter of religion. Research on negotiation of Islamic values pre and postconverting to the family. Literature study uses the theory of interpersonal communication. An overview of negotiations, Islamic values and converts. As well as a review of relevant previous research. In this study the authors used a descriptive method. Through a qualitative approach the aim of the research is essentially relying on efforts to observe, collect, analyze, interpret data about the negotiation of Islamic values pre and post-converts to the family. The data collection techniques are observation, interviews and documentation. The results obtained from the data that has been collected is an inner upheaval when deciding to become a convert. Family becomes the main consideration, converts keep the decision to become converts from the family for fear of family anger and disappointment, at first the family opposes the decision to become a convert until finally accept the decision of converts. The conclusion in this study is the positive response given by family members who are close Islam, but the negative response to converts is when converts do some different worship procedures, different ways to get dress and different signs of Islamic identity.
