Abstract

This research entitled "Analysis of Ambiguity in Headlines of Riau Newspaper News Post" Ambiguity is a form of verbal and written speech that occurs due to the use of language whose grammatical interpretation can differ in general in written language. Ambiguity is a form of speech that has more than one meaning due to differences in interpretation. In connection with this research that is related to the semantics, specifically the meaning of ambiguity in the headlines of the Riau Pos newspaper. The author is interested in researching this research because he wants to know and express the meaning of ambiguity contained in the news titles of the Riau Pos newspaper. This study focused on grammatical ambiguity and lexical ambiguity. The problems contained in this study are (1) What is the grammatical ambiguity contained in the Riau Pos newspaper headlines? (2) What is the lexical ambiguity contained in the Riau Pos newspaper headlines ?. The aim of the study was to describe and analyze grammatical ambiguity and lexical ambiguity in news headlines in the Riau Pos newspaper. This research method uses descriptive methods. The data source of this research is the title of the news of the Riau Pos newspaper edition 1 st January 31 2019, the number of news titles used as data sources amounted to 980 news titles. The theories used in this study are: (1) Soenjono Dardjowidjojo, (2) Mansoer Pateda, (3) Dewa Putu Wijana, (4) Abdul Chaer, (5) Abdul Manaf. The technique used by hermeneutics is the technique of reading and summarizing. From the results of data processing collected in this study, namely: (1) grammatical ambiguity found in the Riau Pos newspaper headlines, (2) lexical ambiguity found in the Riau Pos newspaper news headlines. Grammatical ambiguity in the Riau Pos newspaper headlines amounts to 36, while lexical ambiguity amounts to 21. From the above explanation more grammatical ambiguity is found than lexical ambiguity. ¬
