Abstract

Slow leaner children are children who have below average intelligence abilities with an IQ between 70-89, these children have a slowdown in learning and social. Slow leaner children are also lacking in communication or interaction because of language limitations that children have are still lacking. Barriers experienced by slow leaner children among them are problems of concentration, weak memory, recognition and understanding that are still lacking. Because of language limitations children tend not to interact. Where the teacher can openly interpersonal communication with slow leaner children. The teacher must adjust to each child who has different problems and characters, as for the supporting and inhibiting factors in interpersonal communication. In this study the researchers used descriptive qualitative research methods. The research subjects consisted of 5 teachers, 1 boy and 4 girls, and 11 slow leaner children, while the object was the interpersonal communication of the teacher in motivating SLB Pelita Nusa Marpoyan's slow leaner children. The techniques used in data collection are observation, interview and documentation. From the results of the study we can know that the communication that occurs does not work effectively because of the language limitations that children have, because children lack knowledge and understanding. There are also problems experienced by children including, an unstable mood, weak memory and easy emotions.
