Abstract
Riau Province held the governor elections for the period 2019-2024 on June 27, 2018. KPU set Syamsuar-Edy, the pair number 1, as the winner. During the campaign period every candidate's activity became important to be published. One of the print mass media that gave its special attention to the election in Riau was the Riau Pos Daily Newspaper (SKH) which issued a special rubric "Towards Riau 1". This rubric was indicated that the Riau Pos siding with the Syamsuar-Edy pair. This study used a qualitative method by presenting a descriptive analysis. The data analysis technique used is the discourse analysis by Teun Van Djik. Data collection is done by documentation technique. The unit of data analysis is the news about Syamsuar-Edy who was the winner in the elections. Overall, the results of this study indicate that the text structure in the rubric shows that Riau Pos siding with the Syamsuar-Edy pair. It is found in thematic, schematic, semantic, stylistic, and rhetorical elements.
