Abstract

Application of Cooperative Learning Model Think Pair Share (TPS) Type to Improve the Ability of Class X MIPA2 Students of SMAN 2 Tambang Kampar Regency in Identifying Poetry. This research is motivated by many students who have the ability to identify poetry below the KBM standard. There were 17 students (47.22%) who completed or reached KBM 70, while 19 other students (52.78%) had not yet completed the specified KBM. The purpose of this study was to improve the ability of class X MIPA2SMAN 2 Tambang Kampar District in identifying poetry. The method of this research is descriptive method, while this type of research is Classroom Action Research (CAR). The results showed that the initial data on the average ability to identify students 'poetry or before the application of the cooperative model of TPS type was only reached at 69.58 (good enough), where only 17 students (47.22%) had achieved KBM 70. Students' abilities increased in the first cycle to 77.78 (good category), where 27 students (77.14%) completed reaching KBM 70. The ability to identify poetry in the second cycle students was achieved at an average of 86.03 (very good), with 34 students (97 , 14%) completed reaching KBM 70. Thus, the research hypothesis which reads "If the cooperative learning model of Think Pair Share (TPS) is applied, it can increase the ability of class X MIPA2 students of SMAN 2 Tambang Kampar Regency in identifying poetry" accepted. The conclusions of the study are the application of the cooperative learning model Think Pair Share (TPS) can improve the ability of class X MIPA2 students of SMAN 2 Tambang Kampar Regency in identifying poetry.
