Abstract

The Immigration Office of the TPI Class I (Immigration Checkpoint) Pekanbaru is one of the work units of the Directorate General of Immigration, Ministry of Law and Human Rights of the Republic of Indonesia, which has the responsibility in carrying out duties and functions in the field of immigration such as information and communication facilities, cross-border licensing , controlling status and carrying out supervision and enforcement to people who violate immigration provisions based on applicable laws. In carrying out its duties and functions including providing information to the public, the Immigration Class Office of TPI Pekanbaru has tried to innovate, namely the application of the Online Passport Service Application to retrieve queue numbers, this is implemented so that no longer long queues occur. This study aims to determine and analyze interpersonal communication activities carried out by the TPI Pekanbaru Class I Immigration Office to improve passport-making services. Interpersonal communication is a process of communication that occurs between two or more people by face to face directly so that the message delivered can be understood by the recipient of the message. This research uses descriptive qualitative research methods. The subjects in this study used a purposive sampling technique. There are 8 informants in this study. Data collection uses interview, observation, and documentation techniques. Analysis of the data used is to use data reduction, data presentation and drawing conclusions. The results of the study are interpersonal communication activities carried out by TPI Pekanbaru Class I Immigration Office to improve passport-making services by implementing interpersonal communication through humanistic approaches such as openness, empathy, mutual support, and equality.
