Abstract

Smoking has become a way of life in the world as well as Indonesian youth and men or women. Nowadays, among men, especially young people, they are enlivened by vape. Vape is an electronic that makes a liquid change into steam. Community is a social group of several organisms that share the environment, generally have the same interests and habitat. The age difference from e-cigarette users has its own lifestyle. Many users are in their teens. This raises the perception that vape or e-cigarettes are not the same as ordinary cigarettes. The perspective of e-cigarette users in adolescence against vape itself is different, there are those who consider vape as a style, some think that if they don't vape it is less slang, cuddly and so on. The research conducted was intended to determine the construction of meaning of teenage e-cigarette users in the Riau Vape Community. In this study the authors used descriptive methods. Through a qualitative approach, the purpose of research is basically based on efforts to observe, collect, analyze, interpret data on the construction of meaning of teenage e-cigarette users in the Riau Vape Community. The data collection techniques used are through observation, interviews and documentation. The results obtained from the data collected is that this study found that the meaning construction formed by teenage users of cigarettes in the Riau Vape Community (RVC) community is a positive meaning for the use of vape itself, considered better and safer than ordinary cigarettes. In the RVC vape community, vape is considered a unifying tool for community members, where they can do the same activities and share the same vision.
