Abstract

This research describes the communication style applied by company leaders in improving employee performance at PT. Arara Abadi Sorek District Pelalawan Regency. In an organization, the leadership style of communication influences the relationship between leaders and employees and it impacts the organization wheels running smoothly. The purpose of this study is to find out the leadership communication style. This is because the organization requires a leader who has a good and suitable communication style. This type of research uses qualitative research methods with descriptive presentation. The data is collected by interview and documentation. The subject is selected by using the Purpose Sampling technique. Research based on six communications style theories. The six communication styles are the controlling style, the equalitarian style, the structuring style, the dynamic style, the relinquishing style, and the withdrawal style. The results of the study based on the leadership style of communication includes in one of six existing communication styles which is the equalitarian style and the controlling style. When conducting daily communication with employees, the leader is more dominant using the equalitarian style, for example when doing briefinf, which is open, has a high concern, is able to establish good relationships with others. Whereas at a certain time or urgency such as making a decision quickly, the leader will use the controlling style, that is people who use this style are known as one-way communication.
