Abstract

Online games are one of the serious problems being faced by teenagers, because online games can cause addiction to their players. Addiction to online games has an impact on the child's psychological. Therefore, the role of parents is needed in overcoming the addiction to online games. To realize the role of these parents, there is a need for communication between parents and children who are well established. Based on these problems, the researcher is interested in developing research with the aim of analyzing Parental Communication with Online Game Fans Children. The location of this study was conducted in Labuhan Papan Village, Tanah Putih District, Tanjung Melawan. Using a sample of 5 children and 5 parents. The type of research used is descriptive research, and uses qualitative methods. The results of this study indicate that parents' understanding of effective communication to overcome this online game addiction problem is still not good. Often children are less willing to listen to their parents' words and cause every word from their parents to only be heard but not obeyed, and alsochildren can easily do things beyond normal limits due to lack of control from parents, lack of interpersonal communication that occurs within family is also one of the causes of this, as a result children feel they are not getting enough attention and therefore children prefer to often play games with friends to disappear feeling bored if they are athome.
