Abstract

This study aims to find out what factors cause the phenomenon of prostitution in dimly lit hop, Tanjung Alai Village, Tapung Subdistrict. This type of research is a type of descriptive research and the method used is qualitative research. The location of the research in this study will be done by the author on a dimly lit stall in the roadside of Tapung Subdistrict. The reason the writer chose this location is because this location is a place for entertaining women. In this study the key informants were prostitutes and dimly lit stall owners. . Data collection techniques that are usually carried out include observation, interviews and documentation. Data analysis techniques of this study will use descriptive analysis of qualitative data. Based on the results of the study it was found that moral factors became one of the reasons informants took prostitution. The lack of character and morals as a result of inadequate education and easy access to pornography from many sources are factors that support women to decide to work as prostitute. The second cause is because of experiencing sexual violence in the family and traumatic experiences (mental injury) and a sense of revenge caused by things like failure in marriage, combined, sullied by his lover. The third factor is the difficulty of the economic situation. Another factor is that psychological factors play a role in encouraging prostitute o become informants. In addition, lack of social support and lack of understanding about oneself made the informant lose direction and decide to become a prostitute and there was a misuse of technology for things that were prohibited in the norms of society even in Indonesian law.
