Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the role and barriers of the women's empowerment and child protection services in pursuing child-friendly city programs in the city of Pekanbaru. Indicators used include Institutional Strengthening and Child Rights Clusters. The research method used is descriptive qualitative, which is a research method whose case study leads to a detailed and in-depth description of the portrait of the condition of what actually happened in the field. Key informants in this study were the Head of the Fulfillment of Child Rights and informants, namely the Head of the PHA Section for Civil, Information and Participation Rights, Head of the PHA Section for Basic Health and Child Welfare and the Pekanbaru city community, especially the Rejosari village community. The types and sources of data used are primary data using interview list techniques and secondary data using observation techniques. Based on this analysis technique the researcher concluded that the role of the Office of Women's Empowerment and Child Protection in Seeking for a Child-Friendly City Program in the City of Pekanbaru was quite instrumental. Suggestions that need to be considered are mainly related to socializing to the community about child-worthy city programs and proposing regional regulations relating to the fulfillment of children's rights.
