Abstract

This research was conducted in Pekanbaru City, the purpose of this study was to determine the elasticity of labor absorption in each economic sector in the city of Pekanbaru, and to determine the factors that affect employment in Pekanbaru City. Analysis of the data used in this research is descriptive and quantitative methods to analyze elasticity of labor absorption, which compares the growth rate of employment to the rate of investment growth in the city of Pekanbaru, as well as using multiple linear regression with data processing eviews 10 to see the factors which affects labor absorption in Pekanbaru City, from the results of this study it is known that of the nine economic sectors that have elasticity of employment of E> 1 found in the industrial sector, the trade sector and the service sector and in these three sectors investment growth encourages growth response employment. From the results of this study it is known that the factors that influence employment in Pekanbaru City are the amount of investment, economic growth and population. The amount of investment that has a significant effect on employment in Pekanbaru City (0,0005 <α 0.05). The regression coefficient has a proportion of 98% while the remaining 2% is influenced by other variables not present in this study.
