Abstract

Distribution channels have a very important role in a company, products are created to meet consumer needs. After the company has succeeded in producing the product, and setting the prices, it is time for the company to throw the product onto the market. Products need to be distributed, so that consumers can use and enjoy the products they want. The purpose of this research is to produce a study on the use of distribution channels run by the pond shellfish owners. The method used in this research is qualitative descriptive research type. The data collection technique uses observation, questionnaires, interviews and documentation. The sampling technique used in this study was saturated sampling. The results of this study indicate that the pond shells distribution channel at the aliong fish auction uses 2 distribution channels, the first (I) producer-wholesaler-retailer-consumer and second (II) producer-agent-wholesaler-retailer-consumer. And the one most widely used by shellfish farmers on the coast of the mouth of the Rokan River is the first channel.
