Abstract
Communication plays an important role in social and community life. Interpersonal communication is an attempt to convey messages, information, thoughts, ideas and opinions carried out by a person or group of other people. In fact, interpersonal communication is widely used in all aspects of life. One of them is between online game players. This is so that the message conveyed can be effective. Makes two people who communicate know each other's intentions and goals. Online games have now become an addiction that can make players reduce other activities. One of the online games that is currently being loved by some people, especially teenagers to adults, is Dota 2. The purpose of this study is to determine interpersonal communication between online game players in interacting in the DOTA 2 community in Pekanbaru. The supporting theory that the researcher uses is the theory of social penetration. The method in this study uses descriptive qualitative by using 4 informants in the Dota 2 community in Pekanbaru. The results of this study are improving relationships with other online game players by going through the stages in the theory of social penetration, and wanting to build a Dota 2 community. new thing about Dota 2.
