Abstract

This research was conducted to the representation of a metrosexual male lifestyle in the @bramastavrl Instagram account. Representation is the act of presenting or presenting something through something other than it self through signs. This research aims to present, provide analysis and how to represent the lifestyle of metrosexual men in the @bramastavrl Instagram account. This research approach is a qualitative approach that focuses on the realization of a meaning from social phenomena in society. The purpose of this study is to find out the meaning contained in the @bramastavrl instagram account by interpreting the denotation, connotation and myth aspects of the existing signs. This research uses Roland Barthes semiotic analysis, namely the theory of sign meaning in two stages. With data collection techniques, namely observation and documentation of the results of posting Instagram social media accounts. The data validity technique used triangulation technique. The results of the study indicate that the representation of a metrosexual man's lifestyle does occur in Verrell Bramasta's daily life, there are denotative and connotative meanings that clearly describe the metrosexual man's lifestyle and myths that are in accordance with the true reality. These lifestyles are displayed in routine sports activities, shopping , urban and hedonic lifestyles as well as following fashion developments and also caring about body care.
