Abstract

The crisis of Covid-19 turns out to give a significant impact in various fields of life, one of its effects on education. As an effort to prevent the spread of Covid-19 the Government creates an education policy in times of emergency the spread of Covid-19, which states that the whole process of teaching and learning is carried out from home online, to minimize physical contact. This study aims to determine how much influence the online learning system on the quality of communication between lecturers and students at six Colleges in the city of Pekanbaru. This study uses a quantitative approach with a survey method. The study population is students from six universities in the city of Pekanbaru, the sampling technique using quota sampling with 398 respondents. The research instrument used was a questionnaire with a Likert scale. Based on the results of the study found that the influence of the system of online learning on the quality of communication between lecturers and students of 0,516 included in the category of a medium with the contribution of the effect of 26.7%, which means quite influential. The results showed that the students don't yet feel comfortable while listening to the explanation from the lecturer during the learning online. This can be caused by several factors such as the occurrence of culture shock so it is still necessary to adapt the model of learning a new one, in addition to the constraints on the network the internet can certainly interfere with communication ongoing so that the message is not received in full by the student.
