Abstract
Abusive relationship or violence in a relationship is a pattern or attitude of a strong sense of belonging so that the partner feels that he has control over his partner. The Department of Women's Empowerment and Child Protection (DP3A) in Pekanbaru City noted that 130 cases of violence occurred throughout 2019. Meanwhile, in 2020 113 cases of violence occurred. Abusive relationship s or violence in relationship s are not only experienced by couples who are married but also experienced by couples who are dating. This study discusses phenomenology which focuses on the reasons why informants accept and take action on their partners, then what underlies the informants to persist in abusive relationship s. This study, using a qualitative approach with interview and observation methods. The results showed that the four informants NA, RM, AY, and BT committed acts of abuse because of the dating climate they live in. Changes in attitudes and actions that he takes due to the factors of his partner. Meanwhile, the reasons for the four informants to survive were due to personal factors, habits, family, to fear because there was a disgrace in their relationship .
