Abstract
In enhancing development related to the communication of the village head's government. The role of good communication between the government and the community can realize community participation in development programs. Kampar Regency has a lot of tourism potential that should be developed. One of the tourist destinations in the Kampar Regency is the Green River area, which is considered to have a high enough potential to contribute to the increase in Kampar's GRDP. Under these conditions, the Green River region is increasingly being encouraged to improve the quality of the region by developing and improving tourism supporting facilities and infrastructure. It aims to increase the number of tourists visiting the region. The purpose of this study is to determine the communication of the village government in forming a tourism-aware merchant community and its supporting and inhibiting factors. The research method used is a qualitative method. The subjects in this study were the Village Head and Peganag in Sungai Hijau who participated in the training. The object of this research is the efforts of the village government in forming a tourismconscious merchant community. The types and sources of data used are secondary data and primary data while data collection techniques include interviews, observation and documentation. Based on the results of research and discussion in previous chapters on the communication strategies of the village government in promoting Green River tourism objects in Salo Village, Salo District, Kampar Regency, the authors draw conclusions, namely the communication strategy undertaken by the village government in promoting Green River tourism objects viewed from the communicator strategy , the strategy to determine the audience, the message strategy and the media strategy, seen from the level of tourist visits which is still not significant because it is judged by the lack of promotion strategies undertaken to increase visitors of these attractions so that not many people know the existence of these attractions.
