Abstract

Literacy is related to a person's competence and knowledge about a particular dicipline or science. Sharia banking literacy is a person's understanding of Sharia banking products and the ability to make effective financial decisions. Thus, the literacy of Sharia banking products shows a person's level of understanding comprehensively. This study aims to investigate the community literacy of Sharia banking products in North Payakumbuh District, so that the community will not only know about the Sharia banking products but also be able to access and use them. The problem formulation of this study: how is the community literacy on Sharia banking products in North Payakumbuh District? The aim of this study is to investigate the community literacy of Sharia banking products in North Payakumbuh District. The type of this study is a field research. The population of this study is the community in North Payakumbuh District. The sample of this study consists of 380 respondents taken by the proportionate stratified random sampling technique. The data collection techniques used are questionnaires, observation and documentation. The data are analyzed descriptively, the data are grouped and described according to their types and analyzed quantitatively, then presented in the form of tables, bar charts and equipped with explanations. The results of this study show that the community literacy of Sharia banking products in North Payakumbuh District is very weak with a percentage of 13.9% or is in the "Neutral" and "Agree" level. It means that the community in North Payakumbuh District have neutral literacy or Agree with Sharia banking products.
