Abstract
Every human being wants to live happily, so do teachers. Happiness for teachers is an important thing to have so that the teachers can carry out their roles well. The aim of this study is to investigate the relationship between social support and happiness. The sample of this study consists of 95 kindergarten teachers with sampling technique taken by using purposive sampling. Happiness instrument is adapted from Diener’s theory and social support is adapted from House’s theory. Based on the non-parametric analysis of the Spearman correlation, it is found that the r-value is 0.498 with a significance value of .000 (> 0.05). It means that there is a very significant relationship between social support and happiness among the kindergarten teachers in Pekanbaru. Social support provides an effective contribution to happiness by 24.8%. It means that the social support is able to contribute to the emergence of a sense of happiness in teachers. Moreover, it is also found that the most contributing aspect of social support in this study is the information support.
