Abstract

Self disclosure is one of the keys to the success of interpersonal communication. The better a person is in doing Self Disclosure, the better the relationship is built. Currently the use of social media is not only used as a place to obtain information and entertainment, social media is also used by its users to expand friendship relationships. The focus of this study is Self Disclosure on cyber friends through social media Twitter. Usually Self Disclosure occurs because each individual has an interest in the same thing. However, not all Twitter social media users are able to do Self Disclosure with other users. This is because some users have difficulty in building trust with others on social media. In this research used Social Penetration Theory (Altman and Dalmas Taylor), this study used qualitative descriptive methods with sample techniques using Purposive Sampling. For data collection obtained through interviews, observations and documentation.
