Abstract

This study intends to find out in depth the opinion of the lecturers of Urban and Regional Planning on the issue of relocating the Indonesian capital to East Kalimantan. This researcher focuses on the opinion of the Urban and Regional Planning lecturer on the issue of relocating the Indonesian capital to East Kalimantan. The research method in this study uses a qualitative approach. Subjects in this study were 8 (eight) informants, namely permanent lecturers of Urban and Regional Planning Techniques obtained through purposive sampling technique. The data collection technique was carried out through semistructured interviews, observation, and documentation. The result of this research is that moving the capital city of Indonesia to East Kalimantan can reduce a little burden in Jakarta. There is also equitable development and regional development and the economy throughout Indonesia. Moving the capital city requires basic infrastructure that needs to be built so that analysis from experts is needed to minimize the occurrence of errors. The need for extensive land in relocating the capital is not a cause for concern because the land has been provided by the government in the form of Business Use Rights (HGU) which are not used and can be withdrawn by the government. In East Kalimantan, there are still many inland tribes such as the Dayak and Banjar tribes who are still thick with culture and there are not many tribal mixing as in Jakarta. And there are several factors that influence the opinion of lecturers on these issues such as information factors, educational factors, environmental factors, economic factors, and social factors.
