Abstract

This study aims to describe the PDI Perjuangan political communication strategy in the Legislatif Election 2019 campaign to get public votes in which Pekanbaru is not a PDI Perjuangan base area. Political communication was also carried out when the issue of anti-islamic and PKI. The method used in this research is qualitative. The data in this study were collected through observation and interviews. The results of the study indicate that PDI Perjuangan communication is carried out in various channels, namely the communication channel of groups, organizations, mass and social media. The communication messages conveyed were in the form of community programs based on directions from the party's central management and in the form of an explanation that the PDI- Perjuangan was not anti-Islamic and the PKI. PDI Perjuangan carried out target segmentation to facilitate the implementation of campaign strategies. PDI Perjuagan political communication targets are divided by age, religion and base area. Based on age, PDI Perjuangan uses a different approach to young and old voters. Based on religion, the PDI Perjuangan approach religious figures and label itself close to Islam because Kyai Ma'aruf Amin was elected as candidate of vice president. In the base area, PDI Perjuangan moves twigs and branches to collect votes.
