Abstract
Mutiara Music School is one of the music schools in Pekanbaru that organizes classical piano learning and teaching. This study aims to determine the process of classical piano teaching for children with special needs (autism) at the Mutiara Music School Pekanbaru. The subjects in this study were students and piano teachers at the Mutiara Music School Pekanbaru. While the object of research is classical piano teaching for children with special needs (autism) at Mutiara Music School Pekanbaru. The approach used in this study is a qualitative approach with descriptive research types. Data collection techniques, namely, observation, interview and documentation techniques. The results of the research obtained were piano instruments in teaching because they were able to support stimuli in both gross and subtle motor skills of autistic students. The material used has been adapted to the conditions of autistic children. Teaching classical piano is done by using several methods such as reading, finger drill, and demonstration. Methods adapted to the limitations of autism children. From the results of this study there are behavioral developments and piano playing skills of students in accordance with the category of autism that is owned and the character possessed.
