Abstract

This study aims to determine the creativity of students in learning arts and culture (dance) in Pekanbaru State Junior High School 31. Student creativity seen from Theory According to Guilford in Munandar, consists of 4 theories, namely: 1). Fluency of thinking 2). Flexibility of thinking (flexibility) 3). Elaboration 4). Originality. The results of research on student creativity in dance learning are 1). The existence of smooth thinking of students is seen when the teacher gives questions about dance in general to students regarding the material that has been explained, students are given the opportunity to answer questions that have been given and students answer in the opinion of each student. The answers given are almost the same, just different from the words. 2). Broad thinking on students is seen when the teacher gives the task to students to memorize the lyrics and see the movements that have been practiced by the teacher, students collect a number of ideas, answers or questions that students will ask the teacher with a variety of varied questions. 3). Students' elaboration ability is seen by the cooperation between groups of students exchanging ideas to multiply ideas in each group and develop ideas that are in accordance with the tasks given by the teacher. 4). Students' ability in originality seen from students combining original ideas into unique ideas on the motion they create. This study used descriptive qualitative method. The collection technique used includes collecting data using observation, interviews, and documentation. The subject of this study amounted to 31 people, 1 cultural arts teacher and 30 students of class VIII.1 in Pekanbaru State Junior High School 31 in the academic year 2018/2019. With the creativity of students in learning dance, students can work together to develop creativity in dancing.
