Abstract
This study aims to determine the types of student errors and the causes of errors made by students in solving math problems in the quadrilateral material of Siak Hulu Middle School. The subject of this research was 27th grade VIIF students. form of this research I took was descriptive research. Instrument data collection in the form of learning outcomes tests and interview guidelines. The steps in data analysis are by axamining the results of student answers and classifying them in the form of errors in the answers of each student’s quentons in accordance with the criteria, interviewing students who make mintakes to uncover the causes of errors made by students. Based on research from the result of student answers obtained data with fact errors (52.30%), procedural errors (13.84%), conceptual errors (7.69%) and operating errors (26.15%). So it can be concluded that the dominant mistake made by students incorrectly write symbols and certain symbol. The percentage of fact errors is equal to 52.30%.
