Abstract
In the learning process , the teacher is required to be able to master various learning methods. Because by using learning methods which is appropriate with the lesson materials, then the learning process will run well and the desired learning goals can be achieved as well as improving student activities. Drill method is often used by the teachers because it is very easy to be applied. The phenomenon that occured was mainly related to the low ability of students to memorize short surahs at TKIT Al-Husna. The problem formulation in this study is whether the application of drill method can improve the students’ ability to memorize short surahs of class B2 TKIT Al-Husna Tanah Merah subdistrict? The purpose of this study is to determine whether the application of the drill method can improve the students’ ability to memorize short surahs of class B2 TKIT AlHusna Tanah Merah subdistrict. The type of this study is action research. The subjects of this study were students of class B2 as many as 20 students. Data collection techniques used in this research were the test and observation. After the data were collected, the data processing and data analysis were carried out. The result of this study shows that at the first cycle with a value of 60% is in the interval 40% -60% with the category of Enough and - at the second cycle it increased to 82% in the interval 80% -100% with the value category of Very Perfect. Meanwhile, the improvement of students’ ability to memorize short surahs of class B2 at TKIT Al-Husna Tanah Merah subdistrict has seen an improvement based on the comparison of the average scores of the initial test 59%, at the first cycle 63% and at the second cycle 76% with the category value of Excellent Development in the interval 76% -100%, it means that all students have reached the standard target that has been set at the point of 70 (Seventy). So, based on this study, it can be concluded that the application of drill method can improve students’ ability in memorizing short surahs of class B2 TKIT ALHusna Tanah Merah subdistrict.
