Abstract

This research was conducted with the aim to determine whether there is the relationship between interest with the motivation of students learning biology class IX SMPN 1 Perhentian Raja School Year 2016/2017. The research was conducted in November - December 2016. The sample in this research is the students of class IX SMPN 4 Siak Hulu. The population in this study class IX SMPN 1 Perhentian Raja amounted to 127 people. Data collection in this research is done by correlation approach, questionnaire distribution, beside questionnaire also used interview to know interest with motivation learn biology of student of class IX SMPN 1 Perhentian Raja. Data analysis techniques in this study using Pearson Product Moment correlation analysis techniques. From the research results there is a correlation relationship is between the interest (X) and learning motivation (Y), with the value of correlation coefficient (rxy) amounting to 0.655, while the contribution of interest with learning motivation amounting to 42.90. To test the significance of values tcount amounting to 9.691 and ttable amounting to 1,658. By comparing values tcount (9,691) and ttable (1,658) obtained that value tcount (9,691) > ttable (1,658). So it can be concluded that there is a significant relationship between interest with student learning motivation class IX SMPN 1 Perhentian Raja academic year 2016/2017.
