Abstract

This study deals with the code mixing inIndonesian pop song lyrics . The objective of this study were identified the types of code mixing in Indonesian pop song lyrics, to identify the purposes of code mixing used in Indonesian pop song lyrics by Nababan. The total 75of types used as the data of this research. All data were taken in the period of time frommei , 20th 2017 until july, 3th 2017. The analysis of this research are divided into two parts; first part deals with the types of code mixing in Indonesian pop song lyrics and the second parts discuss about the purposes of code mixing used in Indonesian pop song lyrics. The result shows that the most dominant types of code mixing are insertion with 70 data were found include into insertion of word with 16 data, Insertion of phrase with 5 data, Insertion of hybrids with 2 data, Insertion of clause with 31 data and the types of code mixing was found is congruent lexicalization with 5 data. Meanwhile, in the case of code mixing, there are 75 data were analyzed and most of singer use code mixing because of many reason such as ; need feeling motive, prestige feeling motive, Asserting Status, Pride and power, being more informative, expressing self- emotion. The conclusion of this study is to tell the people about the meaning of the words include song.
