Abstract
Malay is a unifying language and trading language (lingua franca) in the Southeast Asia region since the 7th century. Malay is very easy to learn because there are no different levels of use. Places in the Malay Region in Indonesia that attract foreigners are Istana Siak, Danau Arang, Bukit Naang, and others. In addition to infrastructure readiness, community readiness in terms of language skills also needs tobe considered. mostpeoplewho workin the tourism sector are quite fluent in foreign languages, but in remote areas, thepeople still havebeen difficulty communicating with foreigners. In order for communication to function properly, translators or tools such as translation machines are needed to help foreigners communicate with local people. One-way translator application developed from a foreign language to Malay using Android-based voice using Pivot-based Hybrid Machine Translation (PHMT) method, where PHMT combines the translator engine from Google Translate with a bilingual dictionary as a composition service provided by the Language Grid. Based on the results of the system implementation, the accuracy of voice recognition to text is 82% for English, and 83% for German. and the results of the foreign language translator into Malay are 100%, and the results of the 78% questionnaire indicate that this application is able to translate foreign languagesinto Malay.
