Abstract
Palm midrib is one of the agricultural waste that has the potential to be used as animal feed. The enumeration of palm midrib carried out by farmers is still traditional in nature, manually cutting using a blade. For small farmers this method is still adequate. But for medium and large farmers this method is less effective because it takes more time and energy. Seeing this problem the author designed a portable palm midrib cutting machine that is used to chop palm midrib waste to be used as animal feed. Then plan and calculate the force on the engine element components, the amount of motor power used, and the amount of capacity produced by the portable palm midrib counter machine. After making the machine, then test the actual production capacity that can be produced by a portable palm midrib counter machine. The results of the design produced a portable palm midrib counter machine with a specification of 88 cm in length, 67 cm in width and 73 cm in height. the production capacity of portable palm midrib shredder machine 114 kg / hour. The source of driving the engine is a gasoline fuel motor with a power of 6.5 HP and a turn of 3600 rpm. The transmission system uses V-belt type A-66 with a shaft of 2.54 cm in diameter, and radial ball type P205 bearings
