Abstract

This research aims to improve the learning process and learning outcome of mathematics student in class VII 4 SMPN 4 Siak Hulu on academic year 2017/2018 through implementation of Learning Cycle Model 5E. The subjects of this researh were the students of class VII 4 SMPN 4 Siak Hulu which amounted to 35 students were 18 male students and 17 female students. This research was conducted on March 20 th 2018 until May 3 rd 2018. The this research conducted is Classroom Action Research (PTK) which consists of two cycles. . The observation technique was carried out during the learning process while the test technique was carried out through UH 1 and UH 2. The results of the analysis were analyzed qualitatively qualitative, while the student learning outcomes were analyzed quantitatively by analyzing the completeness of learning outcomes and the analysis of average learning outcomes. The results of the study showed an increase in the learning process and students' mathematics learning outcomes. Improvement of the learning process can be seen from the observation sheet of teacher and student activities. The improvement learning outcome of mathematics student can be seen from the number of students who complete the basic score were 11 students or 31, 43%, improved in the daily test 1 of 17 students or 48, 57% and improved also in the daily test 2 were 23 students or 65, 71%. Mean score learning outcome of mathematics student in the basic score are 31, 43, on UH 1 mean score learning outcome of mathematics student are 60, 2 and on UH 2 mean learning outcome of mathematics student are 70, 69. Based on the outcome of this research it can be concluded that the implementation of Learning Cycle 5E model can improve the learning process and learning outcome of mathematics student in class VII 4 SMPN 4 Siak Hulu on academic year 2017/2018.
