Abstract

The purpose of this research was to determined whether there is a relationship of emotional intelligence with biology learning outcomes based on the academic ability of class VII science students in junior high school 1 Pasir Penyu academic year 2017/2018. The research was conducted from Mei 2018. The study was a correlational and data correlation using questionnaires, documentation and interviews. The sampel in this research as many as 119 students with different level of academic ability. Analysis of the data in this study using correlation analysis Person Product Moment. The results showed that for high academic, emotional intelligence (X) with science learning outcomes (Y) there is a medium correlation (0,430). For medium academic emotional intelligence (X) with science learning outcomes (Y) there is a medium correlation (0,312). For low academic, emotional intelligence (X) with science learning outcomes (Y) there is a medium correlation (0,532). For significant test scores showed that emotional intelligence (X) with science learning outcomes (Y) thitung (2,55) > tabel (2,05). Emotional intelligence (X) with biology learning outcomes (Y) ) thitung (2,44) > tabel (2,00). Emotional intelligence (X) with biology learning outcomes (Y) thitung (5,38) > tabel (2,05). Indicates a significant between way of emotional intelligence with result of science study based on the academic ability of class VII science student in SMP Negeri 1 Pasir Penyu on academic year of 2017/2018.
