Abstract

The aim of this study is to improve students biology learning achievement of class VII 2 at SMP TRI BHAKTI Pekanbaru in academic year 2013/2014 by applying the discussion methods using handout. This research is a classroom research (CAR). It will be held in May to June 2014. The subject were 36 student of 7 grade, in the from of absorption an mastery learning students gained from each metting quiz and test scores at each cycle.The data analysis of this study is descriptive data analysis . Descriptive data analysis results on students learning achievement. It is conducted into 2 cycles that consist of 8 sessions. Students achievement gained from student absorption from the concept of Knowledge Understanding (CKU). Before CAR, the absorption of CKU is 62,58%, after the first cycle ,the achievement increased in to 77,68%, after the second cycle increased in to 94,06%. And for the scientific performance has increased to 83,9%, in the second cycle it has increased in to 87,43%. The Conclusion of this research is the application of discussion by using handout can improve learning achievement of 7 th grade at SMP TRI BHAKTI Pekanbaru in academic year 2013/2014.
