Abstract
Based on observation of the researcher at third semester of English Study Program of FKIP UIR many students have different strategy in reading. The aim of this research to find out the correlation between students’ reading comprehension and reading strategy of third semester students at English Study Program of FKIP UIR Pekanbaru. Research design of this study is a correlational study The location of this research was at English Study Program of FKIP UIR Pekanbaru at Jl. Kaharuddin Nasution no 113 Pekanbaru Riau. There were 6 (six) classes of the third semester consists of IIIA to IIIF. The researcher choosed IIIA class as the sample of the research. This research used two kind of instruments. The first instrument was questionnaire for collecting data of the reading strategy that used by lecturer and the other one was a reading test to know students’ reading comprehension. The data presentation showed that that the mean score of reading comprehension was 124, while reading strategy was 103,07. The max score of reading comprehension was 150 and minimum score was 90, while the maximum score in reading strategy was 130 and minimum score was 64. The students’ mean score of Reading strategy in GLOB was 43,30, PROB strategy was 28,66 and SUP strategy was 31,30. The result of the hypothesis testing shows that the value of sig value was 0,036. If sig value ≤ 0,05 so Ha is accepted. And if If sig value is < 0,05 ha is rejected and Ho is accepted. Ha means there is significant correlation between Reading Comprehension and Reading Strategy Used by Students of Third Semester at FKIP UIR.
