Abstract

YouTube media is a website where users are able to upload and share any videos. It uses Adobe Flash Video technology to display a wide variety of user-generated content, video content, including movie clips, television clips and music videos. It is not necessary for people to register; even unregistered users can watch the videos for free. The objective of the research was To find out whether there is any positive effect of YouTube media toward students’ vocabulary mastery of the fifth grade at SDN 129. This research is pre experimental research. It uses only one group of sample that pre-test (Y1), treatment (teaching and learning process through YouTube media (X)) and post-test (Y2). pre-experimental design is a single group of participants of multiple groups are observed after some intervention or treatment presumed to cause change. The total population of this research was 46 students. The sample of the research was25 students. The data were analyzed by using SPSS version 22. The data of both pre-test and post-test. The research findings showed that the improvement could be seen from the score of t-test. The result was found that there was significant effect YouTube media toward students’ vocabulary mastery of the fifth grade at SDN 129 Pekanbaru. The total score of pre test was 58.6, and The total score of post test was 91.4 .Therefore, it can be concluded that there was significant effect of YouTube media toward students’ vocabulary mastery of the fifth grade at SDN 129 Pekanbaru.
