Abstract
The purpose of this research is to find out significant effect of gallery walk strategy to the improvement of students’ reading comprehension at SMPN 34 Pekanbaru. Gallery walk is strategy that allows the students to share their ideas with others in small group. Research methodology of this research is used quantitavtive research.by using experimental designed with pre-test and post-test were used two classes as a sample and consist of 80 students( 40 students as experimental class and 40 students as control classes ). The instrument of the research was multiple choice of reading test consist of 20 items. The data were analyzed by using paired sample t-test from SPSS version 23 program. The result of the post-test in experimental class that t- obtained was 3.098 was higher than t-table on (df) 78 at level significant 5% was 1.6 and at level significant 1% was 2.3. therefore, the alternative hypothesis is accepted and null hyphothesis is rejected. It can be concluded that there was a significant effect of using Gallery walk strategy towards students’ reading of narrative text at SMP Negeri 34 Pekanbaru.
